Amazing Songs & Other Delights #21 The They Play a Strat, So Does Carlos edition by Carlos Fortes & Raquel Pinheiro @ Yé Yé mixcloud

Amazing Songs & Other Delights #21 The They Play a Strat, So Does Carlos edition can now be listening to on Yé Yé's mixcloud. Carlos Fortes (Mão Morta/Um Zero Amarelo) and I selected 18 songs played/written with a Stratocaster or predominantly played/written with one, including two of his – Ventos Animais and Anjos Marotos by Mão Morta - Carlos picked the first, I the second. The They Play a Strat, So Does Carlos edition is a twin show with Amazing Songs & Other Delights # 20 - The They Play a Telecaster, So Does Carlos edition (also on mixcloud). The Stratocaster was given its name in 1953 and was introduced in 1954. It differs from his elder sister, the Telecaster in a number of ways, like its three pickups. Songs wise there is a joint choice, The Shadows’ Apache with Hank Marvin on the Strat. Songs in which the guitarist isn’t usually associated with a Strat – Bernard Butler, Noel Gallagher and a number of songs with more or less proper Strat men and women. The trackist below offers more details on players and guitars and who picked which songs.

Amazing Songs & Other Delights #18 is The Wintry Songs edition a collaborative songs picking between António Cunha (Rua do Gin/um zero amarelo) and myself. It airs tomorrow, 3-4pm (Lisboa/London time) on Yé Yé Radio: https://yeyeradio.com/ or on the app. Every season so far had its show, Winter could not be left behind. A while ago Antonio posted Billy Mackenzie's Winter Academy which become the starting point for this show. He then sent me over 20 songs for I to choose from and weave my choices along with. The final result is ecletic, beautiful and very wintry. It ranges from Clinic to FINNEAS with enough room for John Parish, Pink Floyd, Zoot Woman, The Decemberists or The Beatles.
